How to Install a Ring Stick Up Elite

The Ring Stick Up Elite security camera is an internet-based security camera that is easily set up in a variety of locations. You can set it up inside or outside of your home. It is an all-purpose security camera that meets all your home security needs.

The Ring Stick-Up Elite Security Camera makes use of a Power-Over-Ethernet (POE) process to be installed. This can be a bit of a confusing process because, unlike using a direct Wi-Fi or hotspot internet connection, the Ring Stick Up Elite requires a LAN cable to have the connection and power established.

Since installing your Ring Stick Up Cam Elite can be a little tricky, I’ll be going over all the setup and installation steps you must complete in this article. I’ll also be explaining the installation process to you.

What Tools Do I Need to Install My Ring Stick Up Elite_

What Tools Do I Need to Install My Ring Stick Up Elite?

The tools you will need to install your Ring Stick Up Elite security camera depend largely on where you intend to set it up. If you plan on setting up your camera on a bookshelf in your house, you should only require the adhesive rubber on the bottom of the camera to place it on your shelf or desk.

You’ll also require a modem or an Ethernet switch and a hammer so that you can clamp down your Ethernet cables running from your Ethernet hub if the cable is far away from the hub. This would keep the cables neat and away from children, thus making the house organised and child-friendly.

You will need a ladder, a screwdriver, an Ethernet switch, a very long Ethernet cable that can be extended from the inside of your house to the outside, and a hammer if you plan to install your ring security camera outside.

You will need a screwdriver to screw in the bolts to a wall, or if you are working on a concrete wall, you will need to hammer in the wall mounts and screw in the anchors, as well as use the ladder to get up to those hard-to-reach places, which are the best places to place your security cameras.

How to Install a Ring Stick Up Elite

The Ring Stick Up Elite security camera is relatively straightforward to install, but many people have difficulty establishing the Power-Over-Ethernet connection. The (POE) setup is key to not only connecting your Ring Stick Up Elite security camera to the internet but also getting power to the camera to work.

To install the ring stick up elite, you will need to install the ring app on your phone or tablet, which is available to download on the App Store and Google Play Store. The next thing you want to do is slide off the bottom cover of the Ring Stick Up Elite, but make sure to keep it nearby because you will need it later.

After that, you will need to take the included POE adapter and power cable, as well as the included Ethernet cable.

Then you will need to plug the POE adapter into a power outlet near your internet modem or ethernet switch using the included power cable. Then you will need to connect the POE adapter to your internet modem or switch with the included ethernet cable. Please be sure to plug the cable into the port marked “in”.

Then connect another ethernet cable to the port marked “out”. This second ethernet cable will carry both power and internet to your stick-up elite security camera. The next thing you will need to do is feed the second Ethernet cable through the hole in the bottom cover you removed and then plug it into your Ring Stick Up Elite security camera.

After that, you will need to go to the Ring app and tap on “Set up a device.” Then choose security cameras. Then scan the QR code at the back of the Ring Stick Up security camera, then choose where you are going to install your security camera.

Then give your security camera a name and then make sure to turn on your security camera, and then proceed to choose the power method you plan on using, which is the Power Over Ethernet option.

After that, you should be able to see the light flashing on your ring security camera. Then tap on the “light is flashing” option. After that, you will want to tap on the join option and wait for a few seconds as the Ring security camera connects to the app.

You will then see the POE port light start blinking, and now the camera is connected to your phone. Then tap on the “continue” option and then follow the on-screen prompts, which should take you to the live view mode for you to use your phone and see what your Ring Stick Up elite security camera is doing.

How to Install Your Ring Stick Up Elite Security Camera Outside

How to Install Your Ring Stick Up Elite Security Camera Outside

For you to install your Ring Stick Up security camera outside, you will need to make sure that you have taken your Ethernet cables around your house and put them through the specific spots you will want to install your Ring cameras.

After that, you will need to take your ceiling or wall mounts and align them to the specific spots where you will want to screw in your bolts and hammer in your anchors. Once that is done, you can connect your ethernet cables to your security cameras and then screw in the security cameras to your wall mounts, which have been fastened to the wall.

How to Install Your Ring Stick Up Elite Security Camera Inside

Installing your Ring Stick Up Elite security camera inside your house is a straightforward process. Once you have finished setting up your security camera with the app, you can proceed to connect it to the Ethernet cable and place it on either your shelf, desk, or anywhere you see fit to place it in your house.

This process is simpler than installing it outside your house because it does not require you to pass cables around your house or through the ceiling.

Conclusion

The Ring Stick Up Elite security camera is solid. I just feel that the installation process is a bit more complicated than simply installing the security camera over a Wi-Fi connection. This is mostly attributed to the need to have a lot of Ethernet cables running through your home, and it can become a little confusing if you have multiple security cameras in your home.

I think the Ring Stick Up Elite security camera is a good POE camera, but there are no major differences in terms of audio and image quality concerning the use of a Wi-Fi or POE connection.

I wish Ring would have increased the image and audio quality by reducing the amount of image and sound compression since it has a direct internet connection and isn’t over a Wi-Fi connection.

Overall, the only advantage of using a POE camera is that you can connect and install your cameras in areas with no power outlets. However, if your house is not wired for Ethernet, there is no reason to wire your house just for the stick-up cams.

If you plan on getting your house wired, you’ll be better off getting an NVR POEcamera system, where you can get better video quality and a 24/7 video recorder.
