Few other plus points of this laptop are that it is light and compact. In addition to this, you can even use it as a tablet. The sleek framework and less-bezel provide a wider screen. Last but not least, this laptop supports high definition videos and has excellent voice clarity.
Hi! We bought this model last year (2021), so the previous iteration. The experience has not been great. There is alot of things that are indeed great with this model, but it has two serious issues.
(1) The touchpad is of the lowest quality I have ever seen on a laptop. It starts to jump and skip It is basically defective, and HP will not help out with this. I will stay away from HP after this.
(2) The second thing is that it overheats.
Have you experienced any of this with this newer iteration?
I have lenovo, Dell and HP laptops with work. This is the first time I buy a consumer laptop – for my daugther. The experience has been terrible.
So a big heads up: I would urge anyone buying this, to buy this over the counter, OR with a very good / reputable / responsible online retailer and test it very thoroughly directly.
That said, a challenge with that approach is that the touchpad worked fine to start with (even though it feels cheap to me), so the problems only started after some time. And a second challenge, the problems are intermittent – it can work fine for a while and then it starts skipping and jumping.
This second characteristic of the issue – that it is intermittent – means that it is really hard – bordering on the impossible – to show the issue and make your case to HP.
So intermittent errors are a big worry for us consumers.
It is so sad for us, for the device is in almost all other respects great. But HP has really let us down in this case – the reason for me saying that is that the touchpad feels really flimsy to me. All my business laptops, lenovo thinkpad so and so, I have a HP elite-something or other and a dell latitude currently – have touchpads that work well, and they feel like a touchpad should and work well. This touchpad has a flimsy cheap feel that is different from any laptop I have ever tried since my first around 1990 (although it did not have a touchpad, they came later. it was trackball back then). So, my point is that if it feels cheap, it very likely *is* cheap. And so the performance is a non-surprising result.
